At the 75th Golden Globes, on Sunday, January 7th, Oprah Winfrey received the Cecil B. DeMille award. She accepted the award with an inspirational speech.

Oprah’s speech began with a thanks to all of the women who shared their stories as a part of the #MeToo movement. She then began to tell her own stories along with others’ stories that have inspired her. Recy Taylor and Rosa Parks were two memorable women that came up in her speech.

Many famous celebrities also showed their support on the movement by dressing in black. Actresses wearing black dresses were also supporting a new cause, Time’s Up, with a mission to end sexual harassment. Many Hollywood stylists have stated that they are teaming up with celebrities to stand up for the cause.

As Oprah’s speech came to end, almost the entire audience was on their feet or in tears. The inspirational speech concluded with “I want all the girls watching here now to know that a new day is on the horizon. And when that day finally dawns, it will be because a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say ‘me too’ again.”
